Sore calves from exercise

I have recently started skipping and my calves hurt a lot. Should I stop doing my skipping routine of every second day or will they get better with time?

    I used to get exactly the same but the following stretches before and after really helped. You may also have a lactic acid build up, I'm not an expert but if you can sit and bring one leg up at a time into a half lotus to give the muscle a short massage before and after also help and lots of water too.
