Anxious about tonight

I have been to a few group events since starting MFP, but it's easy for me to avoid eating in those situations - I carry around a glass of water or cup of tea and talk to people and nobody seems to notice that I'm not eating. But tonight I'm having a dinner party (social obligation) - one couple coming over - they will certainly notice if I eat almost nothing!
I have prepared delicata squash stuffed with kale & mushrooms, but it does have quinoa and tahini in it, so a serving clocks in at 371 calories. I have a huge salad & I never use dressing anyway. I can easily avoid the rolls. For dessert, I made gingerbread with homemade applesauce to put on top of it. Coming up with 383 calories for a full portion of that. I have a bit of a cushion because I went on a hike today with a group and also used the elliptical this morning, so I have close to 500 calories remaining for the day. (I never eat back all of my exercise calories and don't even always reach my daily goal calories.) I know that one day won't "ruin everything" unless I see it as a door opening and that it's really just psychological that I'm so anxious.
I'm thinking that I might eat my portion of delicata and let some quinoa fall out on my plate, eat salad, drink a lot of water, and maybe have a tiny taste of the gingerbread dessert (either take a small piece or try to leave most of it on my plate). One of my friends belongs to the "three bites" school of thought - if you crave something tempting that's high in calories, three bites should satisfy that craving and everything else is just rote eating.
Really just needing to express my feelings here to a group that would understand (and it also helps me avoid vacuuming, but I need to go do that pronto!). Thanks.

Bless your heart! I would relax. Maybe eat 1/2 of everything (all of undressed salad) and enjoy your little party. You're right - one day won't "ruin everything." You can handle this - have faith in yourself.0

Sorry, but this sounds like a concerning amount of over-thinking. You're orchestrating how your plate will look while having dinner? Please - just eat the delicious food you've prepared and enjoy the social time with your friends. Life is short.0

Eat at maintainance for today and enjoy.0

Agree with this. You'll still be in a deficit for the week. No big deal, ESPECIALLY if you don't even always reach your calorie goal without exercise.0 -
Worst case scenario just take off 400 cals from tomorrow and enjoy your food today0

Never trust a cook who won't eat her own cooking, lol. You've prepared a very delicious healthy low-cal meal. Relax! Eat! Enjoy!0

Love the messages in this thread, esp the first by Kjurassic. Enjoy yourself, it sounds like you work hard! Have an open diary, and let your friends encourage you to be accountable. Eat sensibly on your main course, and have a few bites of what sounds like your wonderful dessert. Anything with ginger in it I LOVE!0

You can eat salad with no dressing? Man, that alone earns you kudos in my book.0

It's over (and yes, I always do overthink things!) and was a lovely evening. The food was good (yes, I eat my salad without dressing - I like to taste the veggies - or at most will use hummus) and I had just a taste of gingerbread and more applesauce than cake. I have logged it and am ready to move on. Thanks for hearing me out!0

I like to think of considering these things as planning and working on the diet instead of overthinking. That might be wishful thinking, lol.
Glad you enjoyed!
