Hi guys,

I'm interested to know how much fruit you guys eat?

I have a protien shake in the morning and i put in it mango, banana and kiwifruit.

Put a little bit of natural yoghurt in it.

I have an orange later on in the day. Am i eating too much fruit?

Just curious!!

Thank you

Kim

The Canada Food Guide says 7-8 fruits and vegetables daily.

Of that I have 3-4 fruit servings a day.

I never really eat fruit. Though today I went apple picking and ate like 7 apples, whoops. If I do eat it, I make sure I can weigh it. It's usually not worth the calories for me unless I'm really in the mood for it.

I don't eat sweet fruits very often. Those that I eat most are fruits like tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, those which people often confuse for vegetables.

I feel I can get good nutrition from non-sweet fruits and, really, from all the vegetables I eat.

I'd personally rather satisfy my sweet-tooth and spend my calories on chocolate and such, which I enjoy much much more than sweet fruit. But there are the very rare times when nothing but a crisp apple will satisfy me. But 999/1000, I'd rather spend those calories on chocolate.

But it doesn't sound to me like you're eating all that much fruit. The question is whether the fruit you're eating, and the amount, are helping you reach your goals or are making it harder for you to reach them. You have to determine that.

I'd say as long as it's not negatively affecting your - uh - waste production then whatever you want to eat is fine.

I'm with Lourdesong. I don't really do sweet fruit, I just don't like the taste. But the stuff that gets confused with vegetables is a regular part of my evening meals...

LOVE fruit, eat it when ever I can. I think as long as you fit into your calories you're good.

When hubby brings home a watermelon to cut up, I eat some watermelon. Otherwise I might have an apple -- two or three times a week. I focus on veggies like yellow squash and broccoli as they provide more protein then fruits do.

I eat 3 servings of fruit every day - size depending on what kind of fruit it is; 70-100 grams pomegranate or mango, 100 grams banana (and 80 grams frozen strawberries or blueberries) in smoothie, 100-130 grams grapes, pineapple, melon or pomelo, one or a half orange, one mangosteen, apple, pear, nectarine or peach, one or two plums, passion fruits, tangerines or figs, two apricots or loquats, 6-8 litchis, rambutans, longans or physalis.

I eat 3-4 servings a day.. sometimes more. But the bigger concern is protein and total calories.

I basically live on fruit, haha. I've never been one to worry about fruit having too much sugar or whatever. I have days where I only eat fruit. Personally I wouldn't worry too much unless you have a medical issue.

I eat tons of fruit daily. Usually about 4 servings (and another 4 servings of veggies).

Most epidemiology studies demonstrate that increased fruit intake is associated with decreased weight/bmi (and increased longevity). That data isn't causal of course. But there is no reason to limit fruit intake unless you're having issues sticking to you daily calorie/macro goals. And even then, fruit usually isn't the problem.
