4-6 pack pain?

Has anyone ever experience a single pulled ab muscle? Just one, where it pops out like its herniated? I have this happen once in a while when I twist wrong - extremely painful! But usually the knotted muscle pops back in place. This only happens when I am irregular in doing my crunches with weights. Its my right upper, just below rib cage. I started feeling ab muscle soreness tonight after doing some yoga.

The abdominal muscles are not broken up into individual segments like that. You might have a hernia and, if you do, need to go to the hospital.0

See your doctor as soon as possible. Do not exercise until you get his/her ok.0

Wow! I'm not hurting now, at least no severe pain. I thought all 4-6 knots on my stomach were my ab muscles. The particular knot I was talking about was only temporary - seems to pop back into place when I push on it or move (stretch long). It seems to only be aggravated when twisted movement. Perhaps its torn ligament?0

Thanks for the advice! Rest sounds like a good idea.0

Ligaments attach bone to bone, tendons attach muscle to bone. If the knot were near a bone and not in your abdomen you might be right. Hernias also pop in and out, in particular "sports hernias". The fear would be, if it is a hernia, that it could widen enough to allow a portion of the intestine to protrude and be strangled.0

Sounds like a hernia. Go see your doc.0
