How to avoid eating my feelings (binging)?

A lot of things have been bringing me down lately and this past week has been quite terrible. As someone who struggles with binge eating from time to time, this is a recipe for disaster. Anybody know of some helpful methods to cope with emotional eating?

Find someone with whom to talk out your feelings. A professional would be best or at least someone that can be trusted. Coming to terms with your feelings and acknowledging them takes away their power to make you binge.0

You may be able to redirect your need for comfort in new ways. Please take care of those emotions. They deserve release. Here's some ideas to try.
- Diarize the events and the feelings that went with them.
- Have a ritual, like lighting a scented candle, after you have acknowledged your feelings.
- Run through a mindful exercise to reduce anxiety.
I put together a list of ideas from my therapy group, too.0
