Hi everyone! I've created a group for those of you looking to end the year on a high note! Overall goal would be 20 pounds by the end of the year (or less if you don't have that much to lose!). It's just going to be an open group of people holding each other up and staying motivated! Join us if you'd like! I'll be posting recipes, tips that I've learned or come across and we'll do weekly check ins! I'm going to be participating in the group right along with everyone as I still have 25 pounds (high I know!) to lose by the end of the year to reach my 100 pound goal! I'm going to kick everything off (first tracked weigh in) on Sunday! It's more about staying focused, staying on track and having people to help you get into the mindset you need for this lifestyle than it is about the exact number on the scale. Goals are always a good motivator though and it certainly wouldn't hurt to reach them! ;)

    I've just started...but isn't 20 pounds very quick?
I seem to struggle to lose .5 pounds with a 1.200 net calorie consumption.

You don't have to aim for 20. It's just a motivational group of people to help each other stick with this throughout the remainder of the year. 20 pounds would be roughly 1.5 each week which isn't impossible, but you really have to set your mind to it. You can max out your fitness pal and aim for 2 pounds each week so it's not an unhealthy timeframe to lose that in.

I struggled with 1200 at first too. I just reworked my eating again. It makes you become very aware of everything you're putting into your body. Buy fruits and veggies at the beginning of the week (or whenever you have an extra minute for prep) and wash them all and put them in a container. When you get hungry, you'll have healthy snacks readily available. I also prepare a healthy meal in bulk so I have it for a day or two after. Takes the guesswork out of it and it's less tempting to make a quick snack or get fast food. Those things really helped me out.

I recommend people do the math for the deficit they need before undertaking this to see if this goal passes the Attainable and Realistic part of setting a SMART goal.

Again, does NOT have to be 20. Any goal. 5, 10, 15.. Whatever you want for you. It's just a group of people helping each other stay focused, that's the biggest part of this all, as I've said in all my posts so far.

20 is just my personal goal and if others would like to push themselves with me, great! But set yourself up for what you want to achieve according to your personal fitness levels.

There are approximately 78 days to achieve this by 12/31.
78 days is approximately 11 weeks.
If you set your goal to loose 2lbs per week- you can totally reach the 20 lbs in this timeframe.
However- it's not just about the calories in- but also putting in the effort for those 11 weeks in calories burned as well.

    Attainable- Yes
Realistic- Know that going into this- there may not be much room for cheats or indulgences/I so deserve to eat this meals or treats around major holidays.

You can't out exercise a Bad diet!

The rest of the math is to look at the 1000 daily calorie deficit required to lose two pounds per week compared to what you are currently eating and making sure you are left with a sustainable amount of net calories - minimum 1200 for women - I need closer to 1800.
