Surge teething problems

Hi,
My bf bought me a Fitbit Surge this week for my birthday as an upgrade on my charge HR. I'm not sure if I'm having teething problems/if it's working right...
First of all my tdee calories are coming in less than they did with my charge HR. Even with exercise I struggle to hit goal calories, with my HR I could reach goal relatively easily...
Secondly, I do a lot of running & on my charge HR it would show my heart rate entering 'peak zones' at several times of the run, and sometimes for a while each time.
My surge I haven't hit 'peak' once: I did a 10K the other day & today at the end of my run I sprinted like crazy to try hit it and couldn't. I was like 1 bpm under but my heart was pounding like crazy.
Tonight I've changed my settings to wearing on my non-dominant hand (which is correct) to turn sensitivity down... (My charge HR I used to list as dominant even though it wasn't the correct hand as I move my hands a lot).
Can anyone think of anything else, so far I'm
Feeling a little disappointed?
Thank you
