Might Go Back to 2lbs/wk Goal

I changed my setting to 1.5lbs/week not too long ago. Since then my exercise calories are always in the negative, they go up and down. It's making it difficult for me to stay on track I think, with the fluctuations. I never really ate at 1200/day before anyways... Would it be so bad if I changed it back? The -exercise calories on here are driving me nuts. Does it just not do that with the 1200/day goal?

What do you mean that your exercise calories are in the negative? Aren't exercise calories always negative (ie, food - exercise = net)?
Are you using a tracking device that you have synced with My Fitness Pal?0 -
Ugh what the heck, it's still at -15 after I changed it again. It never did this until a few days ago. It always stayed at "0" on 2lbs/week until I actually took some extra steps.0

It looks like that, but it would always be at +0 before, then would increase if I got exercise calories. I'm synced w/ my Fitbit, I wear it all of the time.0 -
The reason you weren't getting negatives before is because MFP won't let Fitbit take away calories once your goal reaches 1200. If your burning less than MFP predicted, but are already at 1200 calories, you will see a 0 calorie adjustment. If your goal is higher than 1200 and you don't burn what MFP expects, your adjustment will be a negative number.
The reason it's still like that after changing your goal is that it takes awhile to update the exercise adjustment after switching goals. It can sometimes take a few hours to update that when you do it mid-day. ~I only know this, because I play with the goal section frequently. Usually when trying to come up with examples to help people out.~0 -
Okay, would it be a big deal if I keep it at 1200, then, for my own sanity? Like I said, I never ate at 1200 before anyways. It was always between 1400 to around 2000 after exercise calories.0

You could also just turn off the negative adjustments. It's up to you really. At 1200 calories your deficit is probably falling between 750 -1000 so you will probably lose slightly faster than 1.5 lbs per week, but not quite 2 lbs per week.
So if you wanted the 750 calorie deficit, but didn't want to see the negative adjustment, I would just turn it off.0 -
I wouldn't even get to a 1000 cal deficit. I maybe have like 4 times since I started this.

I just don't like seeing the numbers on my home page haha0

So, I have probably been steady at 1-1.5lbs a week lost for a long time. Maybe I'm just being a baby, but I get so frustrated easily.0

You could not enter exercise into MFP or change the cals burned with exercise to 1. Then there won't be anything for MFP to adjust.0

Do you have negative calorie adjustments enabled?0

Yes. I switched it back to 1.5 already. I just hate seeing the numbers go up and down and didn't experience it before. I am honestly not great with change. I get stuck in my ways and it's hard for me to get out of them. I think maybe I am really just more scared to switch it, to be honest... I know that sounds dumb... Or maybe not? I have been scared of even hitting maintenance 40-50 pounds from now.0
