Juicings only if anything going to make a deficit in carbs allowing you to lose water weight faster then normal. In hindsight it doesn't actually work. Better of hitting some cardio and weights for a leaner healthier physique

I guess it depends on the juice, but isn't juice mostly water and carbs?0

Liquid food in, liquid food out. All you need to know about an all-juice diet.0

When I had to have a liquid diet for a few weeks after getting my wisdom teeth removed, my poops were definitely not solid.0 -
Constipation is also common on liquid diets.0

I took care of a woman in a nursing home who was on a permanent liquid diet and (runny cream of wheat, whole milk, juice and ensure) and yeah... liquid food out. I had a similar experience replacing two meals a day with shakes.0

@beemerphile1 thanks for the welcome.
I'm new to this and I was attempting to comment on another thread that I seen where somebody was suggesting to juice for long term weight loss.
To answer your question though, I was making a statement/trying to educate.0 -

Ugh, for real. My tube fed patients have this problem.

I'll vouch for that. I got constipated on high-protein meal replacement drinks during the few short weeks I was on a medically supervised VLCD diet. I blame the protein.0 -

Protein for sure but just veggies and fruit I think would be different.0 -

Yeah...most "juicing" diets don't include high protein shakes (un)fortunately.0 -

Here's one liquid diet with a constipation warning - http://www.optifast.com.au/FAQ/The-Optifast-Program#What-are-common-side-effects-of-Optifast-VLCD
I've done 7 days on liquids. Had a dump on Tuesday from memory.
"Some other symptoms you may also experience whilst on Optifast® VLCD™ which are generally a result of the rapid weight loss rather than the Optifast® VLCD™ itself, are; sensitivity to cold, dry skin, temporary rash, postural hypotension, fatigue, diarrhoea, constipation, halitosis (bad breath), irritability and menstural disturbances."
Given how all the "my way is the only way" folks bang on about lack of fibre in juices (which is false anyway) you would expect constipation to be part of their chorus too, given the alleged lack of fibre.0 -

So you're just making it up, and then asking others for sources. LOL.

Juicing =/= Optifast0 -
Yeah, he's focused on the "liquid" part instead of what this thread is about...the ridiculous notion of juicing for weight loss. So, yes, Optifast is liquid. It appears some of that liquid has 14g of protein per shake. But it's the liquid that's causing the constipation.
OP - I agree. There's no reason to juice if you're looking for a way to lose weight. A calorie deficit is really all you need.
