5x5 Advice

I'm really curious about 5x5 lifting, especially with all the posts on it.
Do I find a program/instructions on the internet or just ask a trainer about it at my gym this afternoon? Should I do it only twice a week, or three times a week? (I've been doing a 30 minute intense express workout usually most weeks 3x week, and some long walking/running on weekends. Is it another 30 min thing, or would I need to extend gym visits to an hour?)
How did it work best for you, if did?
How is it going for people who just started? Any pointers?

Google "Strong Lifts 5x5" - you can get the free program from the official website. It's a 3 day/week workout. When I was doing it, it took me anywhere from 30-45 minutes to do the workout. It takes longer the heavier your weights get, as you need increased rest periods between sets.0

i would take that program and watch some Mark Rippetoe videos on YouTube and then have your trainer work with you on your form with an empty bar.0
