no joke this works ladies N gents ... been running since 2002, off and on ... back at it as of 3 weeks ago, i got shin splints, the lady that runs our clinic says to while sitting (desk or couch) put legs straight and write the alphabet with your feet ... 3 times a day if you can ! It works like a charm! only takes a minute

Try it! tell me how you like it :D

This came from another thread... another woman had posted this. It truly does work! Best of luck and take it easy!!!

Check out runnersworld.com. They have lots videos that deal with many different issues related to running. Most show exercises and or stretches that help with different parts of the body.

I had them REALLY bad and went to the dr. He told me to stop the treadmill and wanted me to go for an x-ray! I waited a week and now I feel fine so have not went for the x-ray, but I stopped working out on the treadmill and went to the elliptical instead ilke he suggested! So far so good!

I'm gonna have to try the alphabet thing! That's pretty cool!

As for the P90X, why don't you do a different vid that isn't so demanding on your lower half? Perhaps Shoulders and Back or one of the other vids that concentrate on the upper region? It still burns calories, afterall! And there is nothing wrong with modifying the workout, I do it all the time! Usually it depends on how I am feeling that day...like if I have arms, but I am super jazzed, I will switch it with Kenpo or Cardio and then do my arms on the kenpo or cardio day. :)

I do two exercises right before I go out to run and then sit on the floor and pull my foot back as far as possible to stretch my calves out. First exercise:

Stand with your feet about 4-5 inches apart, hands on your sides (if you can balance - I hold onto the wall by the front door, lol) and stand up on your toes, then lower back down. Do 10 reps. I like to stay on my toes for a couple seconds to get an extra good stretch. Then move your feet into the shape of a "v" with your toes facing each other. Stand up on your toes and then lower back down, do 10 reps.

They've been helping me so far. Now I just get shin splints from jumping rope... gonna try the stretches before jumping rope. It should help.
