Feeling Guilty

I'm not going to the gym tonight. I feel guilty about it. This would have been my 17th day in a row. Part of me is saying yeah you need a day off before you crash and burn but the other part of me is saying you lost 16 lbs in 2 weeks by pushing yourself to your limits.
I'm thinking of cutting back to 6 days a week. Some of you guys probably think that's too much but in trying to get back in shape. I want to be able to run 5k again.
I feel like I'm giving up but part of me feels like this is the right thing to do. I need some reassurance.

Its okay... You are not going to go to the gym every day for the rest of your life. It sounds like you are losing too fast anyway, so just take a day off, relax, eat some good food so your body can recover a bit and get back at it tomorrow0

You need to give your body time to recover. I started off going 7 days a week in February, now I'm lucky to get there three days, I'm fighting my schedule and I know it will get better. But, you do need to take at least a day off a week for your body to recover. And it depends on what you are doing. Strength training, every other day, cardio can be daily, take a walk on your day off, you will still be moving but getting that break at the same time. Maybe a bike ride, at least you could feel like you did something. I was so scared that if I missed one day, it would turn into two then three then I would quit. I had knee surgery back in April and have had the hardest time getting back to my 5-6 days a week. I had several people telling me to cut back, so I still went but did cut back on strength training, and focused on cardio. Don't feel guilty!!!!0

Besides if you lose too fast it won't stay off!! Keep up the great work, but don't burn yourself out or risk injury doing it!!!0

Rome wasn't built in a day. Your new body won't be either.
If your body is telling you it needs a day of rest, it probably does. And that is aggressive weight loss. Stay positive, stay safe, and win the long term battle.0 -
It's okay to take rest days. It's more than okay, it's necessary! Recovery is an important part of fitness gains. You don't have to be totally inactive - go for a walk, hang out in the pool, do some stretching and foam rollering etc. Train smart - rest and recovery is part of that.0

16 lb in 2 weeks is not healthy.
Please feed your body.
You are losing muscle, as well as fat, losing so fast.
