It's not good or bad; it's just toast. And if eating it puts you in a calorie surplus it would help you gain weight; if you eat it and you're still in a calorie deficit, then it will help you lose weight. Eat it if you enjoy it and keep to your goals.

    What?

If you like it it's good for you - I love toast and bread and eat daily

It's carbs, timing makes no difference for any food

    Overall calories count

I make a wonderful wheat bread myself and love it. And yes, I like to think it's better for me than other breads. While dieting, though, I'm eating a funky Sara Lee bread that has 45 calories. I suspect it's more akin to cotton candy than to bread. Gotta be all air bubbles.

But in any case, 45 cals works nicely for a low-cal sandwich, which I'm just going to eat a sandwich,by golly.

It's better than white, but I try not to eat a lot of bread. It doesn't give me the nutritional bang for my buck that I desire.

It tastes so good, though. Yum. :)

I am pretty sure that the main ingredient in bread is wheat.
I used to make quick breads and yeast breads, some with whole wheat.
    All of them had "wheat."

im not aiming at lossing weight anymore or else il get skinny fat and i need to gain musclers instead

Bread is neither here nor there when it comes to gaining muscles. You gain muscles by exercising ... lifting weights.

And as for toast, I love a good quality whole grain bread with leatherwood honey. :)

And being in a surplus of calories..

OP, I eat bread pretty much every day.. not a fan of white bread, but wheat, whole grain, rye, pumpernickel... all good. Personally, I love the Arnold brand as it is pretty high in fiber (about 5g). And from what I read, the more fiber is a better indication of more natural (not that it really matters for weight loss).

You lose weight from being in a caloric deficit. There are not "good or bad" foods.
You gain muscles by being in a surplus and lifting.

Reads thread ...oh it's brown (or wholemeal / wheat germ) gotcha

I actually reduced my intake of that in favour of farmhouse white when I started calorie controlling cos the calorie / fibre factor was not worth it ...and white toast is just better with egg and ham and bacon

But it's ages since I've has rye ...must put on list

There is white bread and whole wheat bread, also sourdough, rye, etc. It's American marketing, because often it isn't any healthier than the white kind. Now on occasion they actually use whole wheat flour. This can be called real whole wheat bread.

    Q. Which color Legos make a tower?
    A. All of them!

All foods in a calorie surplus, with lifting, will build muscle.

Whether a food is healthy or not is all subjective. It depends on the person. For example, wheat toast would be bad for me because it irritates my digestive system. When I want toast, rice or millet flour based breads are better for me. But, for other people who can digest wheat better than I can, wheat could be great for them. I can't speak for you. Do you feel good after eating it? Does it keep you full for a reasonable amount of time? Do you enjoy eating it? If so, then it's good for you. If not, then maybe it's not.

It's not good for you if you have a wheat allergy.

    Outside of that its okay.

If you are eating it in a surplus and lifting weights, it will help you gain muscle.

If you are eating it in a calorie deficit, it won't disrupt your weight loss.

Best time to eat it is when you fancy some wheat toast (as long as you it fits into your calorie goal)!

Depends. Most Americans never had good bread -or at least don't recognize it. Bread should include only flour, salt, yeast and water. It should have a chewy crust and good tooth. After a couple of days it should start to get hard. Not mushy. Not moldy. Not mysteriously unchanged. All are signs of breads made with batter filled with hydrogenated soy oil, not dough. Designed for mass production, not the human body.

    OK, off my soapbox now.

Why do you think bread should be limited to flour, water, salt and yeast? What a boring world of bread that would be!

I'm an American who has had good bread and makes excellent bread (if I do say so myself...and I do) on a regular basis.

As a baker and bread lover, I heartily (and hearthily, lol) disagree with your extremely limited and limiting view of bread.

As an American, I take offense at your characterization of us and not being able to appreciate good bread.

Not only can we distinguish between good and bad bread (though that's really a matter of taste), some of us can even distinguish between batters and doughs.

I'm not sure where you live, but whole wheat flour is available and utilized throughout most of the English-speaking world. I think that the fact that you don't know the difference may be more of a personal lack of interest/knowledge than a geographical issue.

You don't seem to know much about the English speaking world  maybe you should try travelling outside your own borders before making assertions based on supposition

Wheat is the name of the grain and what many breads are made of, hence in my English speaking part of the world defining bread or toast as "wheat" is redundant

We do however have wholemeal, wheatgerm and seeded batch etc which I believe is what is referred to here
