I am getting really frustrated with a friend who keeps commenting on my diet and crediting metabolism for my size. I am a relatively thin girl (5'3, about 114 pounds), who eats pretty well about 75% of the time. I eat lots of fruits and vegetables. But I also eat chips, candy, occasionally McDonalds, and sometimes will drink a beer. I'm not always at a deficit, but rarely am I at an excess. I am also fairly active. My friend is somewhat heavy, thinks she eats a lot better than she actually does, and always complains to me that I am thinner than her because of our respective metabolisms and how unfair that is. She's also quick to point out whenever I eat more than she does as "evidence". It's getting really annoying. Does anyone else go through this?

It's pretty common....I actually used to think the same about my "naturally" lean friends. Of course, now I realize what the issue was.0

There is a BBC documentary called Why Thin People Are Thin, (or something like that) and they tested the metabolism of a thin person against her over weight friend. The over weight friend was found to have a much HIGHER metabolism. She had to man up and accept it was WHAT she was eating and her lack of activity.0

many heavy people believe this fallacy. It's easier to blame some uncontrollable force then take a really hard look and compare what you are eating. My family is thin, and I'm the fat one. I've had the chance to watch them eat along with other thin people, and always I eat more and want more. I think about food more than them and get more excited over the prospect of food. Love the BBC show supersize vs superskinny we truly have food dysmorphia.0
