Quick question ! Need clarification.

I use my TDEE minus 500 as a guide for daily calories but then I was dumb and didn't realize that I shouldn't be eating back ANY of the exercise calories because it was already factored in.
So I was inaccurately eating back some exercise calories and/or using exercise to "burn" off extra calories that put me at maintenance.
I finally realized my error and even tho it didn't seem to actually hurt me (I was still losing) now that I stopped eating my exercise calories back or burning off extra calories, my weight is at a total standstill.
Coincidence? Or a plateau. ?
Any input is appreciated

I think your thinking on TDEE is wrong but I have been drinking and shouldn't offer anymore insight than that.0

I was told like it factors in your exercise for the week so you don't eat the cals back
And LOOOL maybe you should go to bed.0 -

It does not factor it in.

In the TDEE method? Exercise is factored in.0 -
Yep, coincidence. Stick with it. It can take me 3 weeks after a change to see results on the scale. So many things factor into scale weight. Are you using a weight trailing average or trend line?0

Like I said I have been drinking. But when you enter your activity level into MFP it does not factor exercise.....but then again she doesn't mention doing that. I'll shut up now.0 -

lol I knew you would know better. It's the drink.0 -
TDEE (T as in total)0

MFP doesn't use TDEE which is why the MFP calories you eat back (some anyway since I think MFP is too liberal with caloric burn during exercise). MFP uses BMR (your starting basic calorie need for the day) which is why as you add exercise your daily calorie need goes up.
That aside, subtracting 500 from your TDEE (considered the maintenance goal) should help lose weight. It may be a coincidence in your situation that you have plateaued (briefly!) Good luck!0 -

No, MFP uses NEAT, which calculates your BMR plus all non-exercise activity (such as work, going to school, running errands, taking care of the family, cooking, socializing).
OP, it's hard to tell. How long has it been since you lost weight?

I weighed in at the end of September and lost 3.3 pounds and since then I have been at the exact same weight, to the ounce.ncboiler89 wrote: »arditarose wrote: »ncboiler89 wrote: »ncboiler89 wrote: »I think your thinking on TDEE is wrong but I have been drinking and shouldn't offer anymore insight than that.

Yeah I'm not using NEAT, like I said, I am using my TDEE Minus 500. I manually entered my cal goal based on that, adjusting it as my weight and (consequently my TDEE) lowers.0
