TDEE clarification

I've moved to eating in one of my TDEE losing zones a week ago, and I just had a check-in question:

Your *should not* be eating exercise calories back, correct?
Because they are already factored into 1-3 times a week working out, right?

Correct. Workouts should already be factored into TDEE.

That's what I like about TDEE. I don't have to track exercise separately. Exercise on a regular schedule and hit the daily calorie goal.

    Agreed.

If you didn't factor in exercise when calculating TDEE, you didn't calculate TDEE... you calculated NEAT (which is what MFP does by default).

Yep. I like this method better myself because I can eat the same amount of calories even on days I don't work out. Just have to make sure I get to the gym 3-5 days a week, though!!

Awesome! This is exactly what I've been doing. Even on the days where I did 30 minute workouts or walked for 3-4 hours. Thank you guys! I love knowing I can just touch base and make sure I'm doing it right, following off all the other posts here doing this.

    Well...yes and no.

If you calculated your MFP TDEE correctly, you started by being honest about your LIFESTYLE. Lifestyle does NOT incluide intentional exercise, i.e, anything above and beyond your normal daily lifestyle routine, such as weights and cardio. THOSE you can eat back because, just like a car, you need to fuel your body for the work it takes to drive your machine.
