Looking for Suggestions - Beginning Weight Training

Hi all! I'm looking for suggestions for good upper body workouts for beginners. I have met with a trainer a few times and we have the lower body worked out pretty good. We've touched on upper body, but our schedules don't seem to mesh well, so I'd like to get something started in the mean time. I've put together a list of various free weight upper body exercises, but I'm wondering about core/ab workouts? Should I do a few of those with the upper body? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

P.S. Please be kind. I'm still learning and could really use encouragement rather than sarcasm.

Strong Lift, Strong Curves, New Rules of Lifting for Women, Starting Strength.

I would do a full program though.

I agree with @psulemon, pick a full body program and follow it as outlined. Putting together our own routines usually doesn't work as well for untrained beginners (self included). I would add All Pro's routine to the list. If you're working using compound movements (squat, deadlifts, bench press, and overhead press), these should be working the abs also. That's why they're called compound, they hit multiple muscles. Since you're a beginner, you should focus on these before doing isolation work.

Definitely stronglifts 5x5. It's a great starting point. And I think they have an app.

One more thing, if your prefer more focus on lower body, go with strong curves.

    Yup.
As someone new to lifting you can make gains really fast, and actually benefit from hitting the muscles multiple times a week rather than doing an upper/lower split and training the muscle groups fewer times a week.

Also yup. Recently started, my legs were sore for two weeks straight. It really targets the legs well.
