Just tired..

Hello, friends! This will be just another complaining post, sorry about that. o:)

Last weeks I feel very week, tired and and depressed. I started running 2 months ago and around this time now I should be able to run faster and longer but .. every time I go running my legs feel tired already after 400 m and I can`t find a power to continue as I could in the first weeks.

Also, my upper back - shoulders started to hurt recently, usually this kind of pain for me means that my body is just craving for exercise, but now, even after exercise it still hurts.

Is my body asking for any specific vitamins? What about your experience? What should I eat more or less? Maybe you know other reasons for my tiredness..

    Are you fueling your workouts?

What is your height, weight and daily calorie goal?
Do you eat back your exercise calories?
You may not be eating enough.

You might need to see your Dr.

I'm seconding the question about fuel. If you're eating under your goal and/or not eating exercise calories back, that is probably why you feel so worn out. You need food as fuel for your body and you're going to find that when you run, you won't have the power and stamina you need to push through it. I prefer to lift first in the morning after my coffee but before I eat, but running? I could never run on an empty stomach. I at least need a piece of fruit before I run.

I am definitely eating enough carbs, even too much as I think I have gained some little weight in past months. I usually don`t plan my meals, just eat whenever I can and whatever is available..

Would you be comfortable opening your diary for us to take a peek? This is a tough question to answer without more details.

Too many carbs is not going to make you gain weight though; too much food is what makes you gain weight. How much have you gained in the past few months? If you were eating at maintenance, it could be that in the past few months you've gained a bit of muscle in your legs from running, but you say you have no power, so this is odd. We need specifics in order to help you. Opening your diary for us to view would be best, but if you do not feel comfortable doing so, we at least need to know your height/weight, average calorie consumption, etc.

    Are you over restricting yourself?

It could be that you aren't eating enough or that you aren't getting enough sleep, but it could be many things. There is just no way for us to know the source of your tiredness. You'd have to ask the doctor.

I hope you're back to your normal self very soon!

If you are not tracking your intake there is no way for me to advise you. You may not be eating enough.

My running slowed for a couple months as I was not taking care of some strained muscles and ligaments. I had to cut back and do more stretching and strengthening.

You might not be running "loose", tightening your upper body as you run.

I do not write food diary here and I was not trying to lose weight in the past weeks.
Actually, I changed my eating habits (eating different foods and cooked differently) in last 2 months as I had to move in with my family again. Soon I am going to live alone again. Not sure how many calories I eat a day now, but I would say 2000-2500 (sometimes even more) which is much, I know. :)

I didn`t gain muscles - my clothes are getting tighter, so its definitely a weight gain :)

I will skip the question about my weight - I believe I look smaller than this number. At least people always guess I am 8-10 kg smaller than my weight. I have muscular legs and usually they dont get tired from exercise..

Has the change been sudden? I know about a year ago I got very weak and couldn't figure out why. I couldn't even climb the one set of stairs to my office without feeling I had run a marathon. Turns out I had a virus! If you are getting enough food/sleep etc. maybe a trip to the doctor is a good place to start?

Also try running slower. Have you been following a program like C25K?
