My MFP obsession for health saved my hubbies life

In July 2012 I decided to lose weight. After reading all the inspiring stories on MFP, I decided to join in November 2012. I was obsessed with learning how to be healthy. I knew nothing about how to be healthy and lived on MFP message boards. As a then newby, I was worried about everything. I convinced my hubby that we should both go for yearly tests from a real doctor.
One of my hubbie's tests was PSA level. At that time, we didn't know what that meant and his PSA level was under the threshold. Year two was a little higher, but still under the recommended threshold. Year three was just slightly above the threshold. Hubbie's doctor wisely ordered a biopsy. Early cancer was the result of the biopsy.
I spent several months researching treatment, we both decided that proton treatment was (and still is) the best treatment option. I urge all people who are diagnosed or know of someone is diagnosed with cancer to research proton therapy.
Because MFP members promote whole body health and not just weight loss, my hubby is cured from a cancer that would have probably spread throughout his body and caused his death had we continued on our path of ignorance.
I can not express my gratitude to the MFP community. Thank you!

I wish yourself and your husband continued good health!!
The wise choice to take great care in all-round general health definately paid off on an immense level!!
All the best!0 -
Congrats! I learned the hard way by not having regular check ups - Nearly lost my kidneys due to a failing bladder backing things up into my kidneys. Blood tests would have picked up levels before it got out of hand - instead I landed in the ER and 30 days in the Hospital. Just thankful it was not too late as one more week and they said i would have been gone.0

I'm glad your husband was not stubborn about seeing a doctor!
Hopefully he'll get a clean checkup next time, and for years to come.0 -

Glad you came to MFP and that you got your husband to the doctor in time! So many men don't go to the doctor unless their wife makes them (my dad was one of those). Wishing you many more years of a happy and healthy marriage.0
