Is there a way to post my recent food intake and comment.

It's only been 3 weeks since I've been on my diet and I haven't lost weight yet. I'm not concerned with that right now. I am just looking for opinions on what I've been eating so far 6 out of the 7 days a week (7th day is my one cheat meal day) and my calorie intake etc. I'm just trying to tone up.

Sample
5'10
180 lbs
35 year old male

using MFP as follows:
set to lose 2 lbs a week
Active Activity Level
I do Insanity 3 days a week following the actual schedule.

Calories Allowed per MFP (1,550)

Breakfast
Fat Free Milk 1 cup
4% Friendship Brand Cottage Cheese 1/2 cup

Snack
non workout days (I have 2 cups of each during workout days)
1 cups of either whole or fat free milk (whatever's available but prefer fat free)
1 scoop gold standard whey protein

Lunch
Usually a spinach Salad with 1 diced chicken fillet, red beans, red onions, raspberry viniagrette, (sometimes add shrimp)
If I don't have a salad it's usually something from a diet menu in Wendys (chili or the lighest calorie half salal with chicken in it) or 2 chicken fresca tacos (diet menu)

Snack
same snack as previously listed

Dinner
Chicken or beef shredded in a slow cooker with some green or red peppers in some sort of stew or sauce
side salad of spinach with lite catalina dressing
on occassion if I need the extra carbs i'll have 1/4 cup white rice (no brown rice at the house)
I roughly avg close to my target calorie intake when I work out or dont work out

I usually drink 100-150 oz of water a day

Any opinions on how long it will take to start losing weight doing Insanity 3 days a week?

From what i've read around here is many people that do Insanity don't always see a loss on the scale but they do in inches...so if you don't already have one go get a tape measurer and track that way.

What's your goal weight? I'm thinking at your height and age, you don't have a lot of weight to lose, so a 2lb a week loss goal is pretty aggressive, and a 1550 calorie goal is pretty low. Do you eat back your exercise cals?

I'm older, shorter and female and I lose on 1800 cals a day. Food is fuel, and gotta feed that furnace if you want it to burn. My best success with fat loss has been while eating a small deficit, 1800-2000 cals a day.

Have a look at this topic: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/974888-in-place-of-a-road-map-2k13 Great info there.

Thanks. I changed my profile to sedentary as I sit at a desk most of the day other than the occasional break to walk to the cafeteria or bathroom. I also changed it to lose one pound a week. The calorie showed up as 1,700. So I get to eat a little more than I did.

So now when I exercise I should eat the calories back, correct? I read the MFP website and it says when setting goals the deficit is auto calculated and any exercise logged is like a "reward" to eat more.

if you are just trying to 'tone up' why do you have a weight loss goal of 2lb per week?

I agree with a previous post. You need to look at your taping not the scale, especially since you bulk up with insanity and the protein shakes. You may want to consider cutting the dairy-with the exception of what is in your protein shakes.

I'm not paying attention to the scale anymore. I just used it to figure out what to set up in MFP.

Since I have a desk job (sedentary), at 35 years of age, 180 lbs, 5 foot 10, my TDEE as noted by online calulators says 2200. I assume that's what I should eat just to maintain my weight and eat calories back when I exercise?

If I set the MFP the same but have the goals set to lose 1 lb a week, MFP now says 1,700. I assume when I exercise I still should eat the calories back?

The only dairy I have is in my protein shakes and 1 cup of fat free milk with cottage cheese for breakfast to start my day.
