Hello
I have a very high cholesterol level for both kinds (forget what they are called). Do you have any tips to lower it, recipes, ideas, and certain foods. What are things I absolutely need to stop eating?
Any help is awesome!

Google heart healthy diet. It will give you the foods good for that. I had high cholesterol and ate a heart healthy diet, for the most part. I didn't eliminate anything, just lowered how much I ate of certain foods. Exercise....that's an important part as well.0

You might try looking through this:

Call the doctor who diagnosed you and ask for a referral to a dietitian. They'll get all the info from the doctor and help you come up with a plan that is just for you, including any health issues as well as what you like and don't like. They'll answer all your questions. It's really the best 30-60 minutes you can spend on your diet!0 -

http://thefuturescentre.org/signals-of-change/3770/us-federal-dietary-guidelines-advisory-committee-changes-stance-cholesterolThe scientific report, written by experts in the fields of nutrition, food science, public health, medicine and agriculture, states that: “Cholesterol is not a nutrient of concern for overconsumption.”The greater danger, it is suggested, lies not in consuming products that are high in cholesterol, but that contain high levels of saturated fats.
The recommendations also address the sustainability effects of diet for the first time and recommend reducing red and processed meat consumption for health, stating that “a diet higher in plant-based foods … and lower in calories and animal-based foods is more health promoting and is associated with less environmental impact than is the current US diet.”0 -

Eat more plant food. Eat less saturated fat, animal products and oils. Exercise.0

For a few meals each week add more veggies and beans.0

Eat more fiber (vegetables, whole grains, fruit, beans), fish and especially fatty fish (tuna, salmon, trout, sardines), choose unsaturated fat over saturated (olive oil, avocados, nuts etc instead of butter or animal fat).
If you are overweight lose weight. And make sure to be physically active, either by adding structured exercise or increasing overall physical activity.0 -
I'm watching my foods to lower my cholesterol. My doctor is trying me on niacin instead of statin drugs. I walk 60 minutes a day. I eat alot of fiber. 35 to 40 grams a day. I don't eat fried foods. I focus on good fats such as olive oil. I limit processed foods. Niacin is a vitamin that has been proven to help lower cholesterol but I don't advise starting it without talking to dr. It can have crazy side effects. My triglycerides were good. Fish oil can help with lowering it if you need it.0

When I was 25 I was diagnosed with a 290 cholesterol. I weigh 128 lbs and am 5'7". The doctor couldn't else ever it. My good cholesterol was low and my bad cholesterol was super high. I did research and decided to go vegan. Within 6 months, my cholesterol had dropped to 225. After 1 year, my cholesterol dropped down to 190. My Good cholesterol is through the roof! My bad cholesterol is still a little high but I account that to the fact that I still drink alcohol and eat some sweets.
While going 100% vegan is really hard, it really is the best way to lower cholesterol without drugs. I recommend trying to go vegan maybe 3-4 days a week and see how that helps. There really are some tasty vegan foods out there!0 -
My cholesterol was a tiny bit elevated with my last lab work. Since that time I've lost about 40 lbs and started exercising regularly. As of right now I'm not doing anything with my diet. I go for updated labs very soon and I'm hopeful that the weight loss and exercise improves my cholesterol. I can't take a statin because I have problems with my liver, so I need to do this naturally.0
