I am a carb addict

Lately all I have been eating is carbs and gaining weight (mostly in belly). Try having hard boiled egg and half our later grabbing anything else that's sugar or carb and eating it. I don't know if I am bored or what. Also have a gym membership and don't even use it. What a waste. Really wanted 20 pounds off by Christmas. Any suggestions?

Don't obsess over carbs. Too many (overall) calories make people gain weight. The places that you gain weight have to do with your genetics (also, not a carb issue).
Eating because you are bored is a behavioral habit that needs to be changed to help you lose weight AND keep it off. Losing weight is just the first step.
Keeping the weight off requires lifestyle changes....only limit carbs now if you can see doing that forever.
Calories in vs. calories out. Eat less and move more. Just log everything you put in your mouth.
Moving more can be walking. If you want to go to the gym, then you will do it. I can't make you want it.
The closer you get to goal, the slower the weight will come off. For the last 10 pounds, 1/2 pound a week is good progress. Aggressive timelines typically aren't a good idea.0 -
Have you been logging any of it? If you haven't, pay attention to your macros. Too many carbs and not enough protein, for me, leads to overeating. Getting enough protein was the key to my success.0

So, you absolutely know what is wrong, as you mention above that you don't log, focus too much on carbs and simple sugars, and never workout. You might want to lose 20 pounds but you know you don't want to change anything to do it.
Your results are everything you are putting into them. Unfortunately, there is no way around eating proper calories and adding in exercise for health.

I'd suggest just tracking your calories for a week - eating as you are now, don't change anything. This will give you an idea of where you're really at and you should be able to spot some easy targets that you an cut back on that'll really cut the calories. After that just focus on mini goals, don't worry about 20lb for Xmas, just aim for 1lb by next week, then take each week as it comes. Good luck0

Try to focus on the process and not so much the weight. Try to get all your water in, are you getting enough fiber, find an exercise you like to do that may not require going to gym.
If you are bored or angry or any other reason that you may be emotionally eating, unless your stomach is rumbling or you feel like in your next breath you'll hit the floor, stop and wait about 20mins to see if in fact you are hungry or like you said trying to fill an emotional void.
What helps me is my Fitbook. I log on MFP as well, but I'm still a pen/paper girl at heart and I can see the servings of veggies, fruits, water, grains, fats, protein, etc. This keeps me accountable to eating the healthy stuff and not so much the unhealthy (life you I am a self professed carb junkie).
I find that when I focus on the process and not so much on the weight loss, I actually lose.0
