Are you suppose to eat the calories that you burn off I walk and it has said I get extra 300 calories to eat on top of 1200 I eat but do you have to eat the calories back that u burn??

You have just opened a can of worms! There are views on both sides. Lot's of threads about it also. Generally, it is assumed, yes, eat your exercise calories.

Eating back exercise calories is a matter of personal choice. Exercise calories are not part of the weekly targeted weight loss goal, so you can safely consume them if you chose too.
Many people who do eat back calories will only eat back a portion of them, based on how accurate they think the burn estimate is.
A common recommendation is to eat back 50% to start, and adjust from there. If your estimates are coming from a heart rate monitor device, you can safely start much higher.0 -

Agreed! If using software only, or gym equipment to calculate calories, use caution! I have never found MFP or the other UA apps to be accurate. If using a good chest strap type HRM, I would trust it much more.Regardless of what others do, this site is designed for you to add exercise calories and eat them. At 1200 calories you will lose weight with ZERO exercise.
At 1200 - 300 exercise calories.....your net intake is 900 calories. 900 calories is not enough fuel. You want to eat enough to fuel existing lean muscle....so most of the weight you lose is fat.
Now, the "controversy" regarding eating calories back is this: Did you really burn 300 calories? Did you really eat 1200 calories? These are both estimations. When people say eating back exercise calories "doesn't work," they have estimated something wrong.0 -
