Over 60, overweight. Got fed up one day with my situation and decided to be healthier. Went out and bought a secondhand bench and weights, (they needed refurbishing and painting, did that) so far have the weights, a stair stepper, stationery bike and real bike at home. I don't know why more women don't do weights, as women get older they lose bone density and muscle mass, and some of this can be prevented with strength exercise.
I do lifting every other day along with other exercises, not very heavy weights but enough to challenge, play music while I exercise, treat myself to a whey shake after, and it is fun!
Still have to do a bit of work on the real bike but plan soon to get started riding.
Progress is slow, have lost 15 lbs in 5 weeks, but gained energy and slowly gaining strength. Ketogenic diet, and it works, I am rarely hungry except right before a meal.
I think too many people and that included myself, get stuck in a rut where they plod along with little physical activity and overeat. But every day is a new day, and one has the chance every day to change for the better.
I have a new grand baby girl, and by the time she gets old enough to ride bikes, Grandma is going to be fit and ride right along with her!
I'm glad to be here, this seems like a pretty nice community. I hope all of you meet and exceed the goals you have set for yourself.
