Hello I am Jim ...stress eating?

how do you control the binge eating urge, I have lost 20 lbs so far but when something stressful happens in my life I just want to order a pizza and 2 liter bottle of Coke....help

    Think about your accomplishments so far. Exercise is a great stress reliever. You can also do something relaxing that you truly enjoy (reading, listening to your favorite music, playing games, puzzles, something you have always wanted to try but never took the time to do). Hope I am helping some.

    I am going to recommend a book, Habits by Duhigg. You have an established habit to turn to pizza when stressed.

    It is far easier to modify an existing habit than to try to eliminate it.

    You might decide for instance to go for a run before dinner on a stress day. Running is very good for stress relief. I suggest you go for that run and at least for a while, have the pizza too. Over time increase the running and reduce the pizza.

    And you can switch to diet soda.

    J, thanks for the book recommendation and the idea that what I do is a habit never thought of it that way switched to diet soda 3 months ago never going back now to just get down to seltzer instead of diet soda.

    Wii Player I like to write and have turned to that and music on multiple occasions thanks for the recommendations will apply them.

    Tea. When I get stressed out or go to binge eat I make tea or chew gum.
