Scanning barcodes with no nutritional information on label

I was looking for a salad at Target this morning and noticed none of the labels had any NI. I asked an employee and she said it doesn't print out and that other customers had complained about it. I picked one up and used MFP's scanning option just to see if it showed anything and surprisingly, it did!

Does anyone know how reliable the info is? I assume the company enters some sort of information but am not sure. You know what 'they' say about assuming...

    It's probably user entered information.

Not particularly reliable in and of itself, but if it looks reasonably accurate, I'd use it short of any better information.

The barcode number on a food package does not contain nutrition information, it is just a universal product code (UPC) number registered to the manufacturer or distributor. All of the macro- and micronutrient information associated with that barcode number was entered into the MFP Food Database by other MFP users or staff from the Nutrition Facts label found on that package; then a user associated that UPC number with a MFP Food Database record. The UPC number can be associated with the wrong MFP Food Database record, or the MFP Food Database record could be inaccurate.

Most of the info in the database is entered by members. I doubt that any companies get on MFP to enter their info.

It's probably one of two things. Either someone did their best guess or Targets in other areas of the country have Nutritional Information printed on that item and a user who lives in one of those areas put it in the database.

Thanks, everyone. I'll use this feature with caution in the future for similar situations. I appreciate the feedback!
