What do you do when you come down with a cold? Do you still hit the gym or take it easy until it passes?

I have never skipped a day due to being sick. I found that it helped me feel better in fact.

I'm sick and contagious I stay home. But then, it's against my gym rules to show up sick. Nobody's need to train comes above anyone else's need to stay healthy.

If I had strep throat or a fever I'll stay home. A little cold? Of course I'm in.

With a mild cold, I can usually do some mild cardio (generally bike riding). I've never been able to lift worth a crap even with a light cold.

You will recover faster if you stay away from the gym. Your immune system needs to fight the virus/cold, not to repear muscles.

Huh, I did not know that your immune system repairs your muscles too. That's awesome.

Rest is needed when you are sick...and I am sure people like me dont apreciate people that are contagious comming to the gym. Please stay home if thats the case! You can do a workout at home if you really want to.

I use a ‘neck down rule’ if it’s just a sniffle/head cold/sore throat I’ll usually still hit the gym, although may not push as hard as usual. Any chesty cough, fever etc. I’ll give it a skip, common sense really :)

If you can workout, you are not too sick.

You know when your body just can't or does not want to workout and is screaming rest..

If I'm just congested, I workout because a little cardio helps me breathe.

If it's something more, I rest.

It depends. If I have a mild cold I won't go to the gym out of courtesy for others but I will do some walking around my neighborhood. Getting some activity in usually helps me to feel better, and the cool air during the fall and winter helps my breathing.

If I have a pretty significant cold or anything beyond a cold I stay home and don't go for walks either. These are times where I'm better off resting and just adjusting my calories accordingly.

I usually stay home, have 4-5 stiff drinks, a neo citron night cap and hit again the next day

Please don't go to the gym and spread your germs on all the equipment. Do some exercises at home, go for a walk or run, or simply vegetate.
