TDEE question

I know this has been covered SOO many times so I apologize. I just want to be sure I am understanding it right. When I go on MFP - and gave my stats - it gives me 1810 as my daily calorie goal. But when I went to the site about my TDEE/BMR etc. it suggested I eat about 1705 at least daily. That works because I'm usually about 300 - 400 under my goal each day. So since I work outside the home - and have two kids - I usually only get to specifically exercise 2 times a week. I just try and stay active at work, etc. the other days. Anyway - I put myself as lightly active on the calculators. So instead of 1805 - does that mean I should go with 1705? I generally don't log my exercise because I assumed the 1705 took into account the exercise since I put lightly active which is exercising 1-2 times a week. :)

Thank you everyone! :)

It just depends on what route you want to go. MFP uses the NEAT method and is designed to eat your exercise calories back. TDEE already includes your exercise calories. One isn't better than the other. Pick one and reevaluate in a month to see if it is a good calorie goal for you and adjust accordingly based on your rate of weight loss.

TDEE simply means your total daily energy expenditure, that varies every single day depending on how much you move. to loose weight you have to eat less then your TDEE. 500 less then your TDEE everyday should, in most people, result in about 1lb per week weight loss. BMR is your base metabolic rate, thats how many calories your body uses if you stayed in bed and didnt move all day.

My fitbit calculates my TDEE and this time of year my TDEE is about 2700-2800 on any given day so I try to keep my calories around 1700-2000 every day. You can calculate your TDEE with something like a fitbot or overtime by accurately tracking your weightloss and food intake. Most of the websites seem to be way off for my TDEE calculations, but your results my vary there.
