How much supplementation is too much?

I'm trying something new this week. A fat burning shred program - increased calories, heavier lifting.

I put together a meal plan - I cook on Sunday and eat the same all week - that hits my calorie and macro targets. But I'm now doing 2.5 protein shakes and a protein bar every day.

That seems like a lot from supplementation vs whole foods. I'm trying to figure out how much supplementation is ok and how much is too much.

I'm opening my diary. Take a look at today (Sunday) to see my plan. Would love to get some thoughts on the supplementation piece.

And yes- I know I have a bunch of sugar/carb foods in there. Phase 1 is high on carbs, drops by 33% each in phase 2 and 3. I wasn't getting anywhere near my phase 1 carb target without them.

Whole food should outweigh how much you supplement. Granted that sometimes supplementation can be convenient, but will you eat that way for life?
Also don't get fooled by programs that say "fat burning, shredding, ripping, etc." You burn fat one main way: eating less calories than you burn overall.
