Protein powders: which are the thickest?

I like switching up my protein powders every once in a while for variety/boredom. Does anyone know of any brands that mix really thick? I'm not a fan of thin protein powders. Thanks!

  • I find Quest to be decently thick. I've only ever mixed it with almond milk. Haven't used a lot of protein powders, so, I don't really have anything to compare it to.

If my protein powder is lacking in that thick punch I usually use 1 table spoon of water with 1 table spoon of corn starch....shake it for about 33 minutes and then BOOM you've got yourself some meeeeean protein paste ready to do a body good.

Casein powders are thicker than most.

^ This. I prefer a whey/casein blend (currently Dymatize Elite Gourmet). Mixes thicker than pure whey proteins.

Yep. I use optimum nutrition 100% casein which is pretty thick. If you want it even thicker, adding a TBS of chia seeds does the trick

Try adding chickpeas to your smoothie: you will have both protein and fiber; and it also thickens. Make sure you rinse the chickpeas really well to remove the sodium.

It's more of a meal replacement than just a regular protein powder, but I've found that the Raw Meal powder from Garden of Life to get crazy thick when you mix it according to package directions. When I mix it with my flax milk, it gets so thick after chilling it that it basically turns to pudding and I have to eat it with a spoon.

I like EAS Advantage with 25 grams of protein. They make one that has 15 grams but it doesn't get as thick:)

As others here have said: Quest! I love their protein powders especially because of this!
I've noticed generally any protein powder with xanthan gum in the ingredients list will blend to a nice and thick consistency though :) quest just blends thick and tastes the best based upon my experiences!

This, I have quest, and other basic wheys, when I'm not using the quest I'll put half a. Teaspoon of xanthan gum in the blender.
