Dreaming of Food

Why am I constantly dreaming of food? Especially of me eating or binging on my favorite foods when I restrict them and constantly watching my calories and exercise. Even at a healthy weight, I still find it hard to eat them because of how high the fat and calories are in the certain foods I use to eat. Constantly dreaming of cheesecake, pizza, and frosting. (That's all I keep craving but always tried to avoid them) what do these dreams even mean?

This seems self explanatory to me. If you are craving/thinking about these particular foods a lot, it's not really that crazy that you are also dreaming about them. Fortunately you can dream about eating all the pizza and cheesecake you want. You can make a low fat high protein cheesecake. There are over 9000 recipes on youtube. Just do a search for "high protein low fat cheesecake". You can make lower calorie pizza as well.
  • Even if i make them, I'm scared I'll binge on them and go over my intake. If I want real take out pizza, I feel like I can only limit to eating just 1 slice and that's it. Which sucks. Hate calories....

Can you perhaps order just a few slices of takeout pizza? Is it possible to request a specific size for the pizza, like M through XL? (at my local pizza chain it's possible) Can you ask to cut the cheese on takeout pizza? Do they have a website with a pizza builder that lets you know the calories? Last time I used a pizza builder online I got a huge pizza for only 640 calories so I got to eat it ALL!

Also with making your own pizza/cheesecake, the good thing is... you can make one portion at a time! So don't worry about a binge if it's only one portion that fits your calories. ;)

i had this dream when i restricted heavily; seems like your body wants food; why not have it-;)
  • Because I will end up binging on it and feel like I can't stop. I already feel guilty from eating two slices of cake last night along with left over bread pudding and a large slice of Oreo cream pie.

Your problem is that you're being hyper-restrictive then binging. You really need to practice moderation. As was pointed out by @melonaulait, if you are worried about binging, simply make yourself a small enough portion size so that you can eat all of it. You can make your own small pizza or a single slice of cheesecake. It's far better to do that then to try and restrict the foods all together followed by a period of binging.

What i did when i started to lose weight was taking that whole portion control into ( for me) system of prepping food.

And i still do. I divide my food in portions the moment i come home from shopping Was all my veggies and fruits cut them up in portions.
Same for my evening snacks ( i eat every evening some fruit and a huge bowl of popcorn) So my fruits i cut up in portions of 100 calories each and freeze them, lol yes i like frozen fruits its like candy to me.

Same with meats or with nuts. Everything get into tubs, bags etc etc.

This is how i learned to eat more in moderation.

I ate already a pretty balanced diet. But i ate to much!
So yes i eat a cookie...but i eat one!.... i pre-log my days and when i have room or want a cookie i make room in my calorie allowance. I take a cookie and the coffee...close the pack with cookies and do it away. And that is it! i go out of the kitchen and sit down with my coffee and cookie and enjoy it. And i dont go back for another one.

Same with ice cream etc etc I eat it all but portions and i do the pack away. I never eat in the kitchen or standing. I sit down with my food/snack/sweet or treat :)
    I enjoy it.

When i go out and get pizza or a buffet i walk/exercise that day and the day after a bit extra. But i sure go i wont deny myself normal life.
I didn't gain weight because i ate pizza or chips...i gained weight because i ALWAYS ate too MUCH calories. Because i didnt stop after eating one avocado but wanted ( and took) two...day after day. Because i ate too much nuts or strawberries.

Also i didn't deny myself any food which would make it harder after some time, because i wanted ( gravings) them so bad.

So i still eat it all but i control now what i eat. And i dont feel guilty at all with eating more one day then another. As long as i go back the next day to eating normal again.

I wish you good luck and my advice is....pre-log and prep your foods and portion them out till the time you have learned to control it.
