Hello all, I need some help! I'm feeling a bit discouraged with my results and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or.... being impatient

I've been going to the gym 5 times a week for roughly 45 minutes. When I started my journey in July I was at 346 lbs but dropped down to 333lbs by the end of the month. I had to put a bit of a pause on gym time because I had to undergo surgery. But I got back on the horse as soon as I could and got back into the gym 09/28 at 334 lbs. After a month I'm at 329 lbs. That is a loss of 5lbs since my return. Am I doing something wrong? or am I just being impatient?

Generally my gym schedule goes something like
Tuesday 20 mins of cardio/Abs
Wednesday 30 mins of cardio
Thursday 20 mins of cardio/Arms
Friday 30 mins of cardio
Saturday 20 mins of cardio/Legs
Sunday & Monday are rest days.

My diet? I stick to chicken, ground turkey, eggs, fruits and veggies. If I'm in the mood for something starchy I'll go with pinto beans or black beans. If I go for rice I stick to brown rice and may have a diet soda once a week (mostly I stick with water). I do have a cheat day but try to stick within my calorie goal.

So am I doing something wrong? being impatient? Any help is appreciated :)

~ Ade

A pound a week loss is still good. The question is, are you logging everything you eat and using a food scale?

I would say it's a mixture of impatience and likely eating more than you think. Are you counting calories at all?

Oops just reread your post. You are counting. Are you weighing your food?

Hi Ade, I'm not an expert and struggled most of my life with weight. It seems to me that weight loss is much more about controlling what you are eating/how much you are eating. I went through a stint where I thought I could exercise my way to being skinny. While it was good for my cardiovascular health and muscle tone, I did not manage my calorie intake and the weight did not come off like I hoped. Now I try to walk more than I have been but am paying great attention to calorie intake using this site and the weight is coming off.

I am logging everything I eat its become a habit. I do want to lose weight and lying to myself wouldn't help that. In regards to the food scale no, but I will invest in one!

The number for daily calorie goal seems a bit high 2160 so I reduced it to 1600.

Thank you all for the feedback! its very much appreciated :)

Definitely get a scale to make sure your intake is as close as possible to your goal.

Did anyone ask if you're "eating back" your exercise calories?
