Bringing over cals

Am I able to bring over cals that I didn't eat the days before? I workout 4 days a week but the days I don't, I'm extremely sedentary. If I don't eat all of cals, can I bring them over to the days I don't workout?

Sure. You can also average exercise calories over the week as a whole if you are pretty consistent. That's what the TDEE method people talk about basically is. I started doing that and lost my last 30 lbs or so doing it, since I got tired of having to eat so low on rest days.

Sure you can! It probably makes more sense to eat more on the days you work out so "saving up calories" from a day when you went under your intake normally works as well

A huge percentage of us 'bank' calories through the week for days where we plan to eat more :]

I do this every week so I can eat a substantial amount more at the weekend!

Lots of people on here have had success doing that. I would however caution you to make sure your logging is EXTREMELY accurate if you're gonna do that. Make sure you're weighing and not just guesstimating or you may end up doing yourself a disservice. If you were logging inaccurately, those days where you come in under goal might be the only thing balancing out the miscalculations.

Some of us don't use MFP's method. We use other external calculators to determine the average calories our bodies need through the week and subtract a percentage of that. It gives us a flat rate intake for the week and we just log exercise as 1 calorie burned.

I have a daily goal but pretty much just try to average that throughout the week. I check the week-to-date calorie average on the app each evening to see how I'm doing.

Yes! I do this on weekends when I need extra wiggle room in my diet. I call it the Piggybank method.

For me, I hate to see those red numbers when I go over on the weekends, so I log a food called Piggybank on M-F for say, 100 calories, then on Sat/Sun I log negative servings of Piggybank (can only do this on the website, not on the app). It credits you for the banked calories so you don't go in the red, but your weekly totals are unaffected.

Thanks guys! That's really helpful :) I do weigh everything so I am extra careful. Glad to know that this has worked for you guys. I'm battling extreme bloating at the moment (PMS). I'm hoping it doesn't mess with my week.

The mfp app allows you to see your weekly deficit which can make banking calories easier. I'm not sure but I dont think the feature is on the normal site.
