Inches lost vs. weight lost

Does anyone else just track inches lost vs. weight lost?! I was an avid MFPer a few years ago, but I got # crazy. Calorie crazy and obsessively weighing myself. It just wasn't healthy & I had to stop for awhile. Now I just measure myself and go by how my clothes fit to stay in tune with my body & my goals, but I'm wondering how you guys track your progress. Am I missing anything by ditching the scale?!

I measure monthly to keep track of my progress but yes I agree sometimes you do get obsessed with the scale.

I would rather track inches honestly when I run I lose inches I did it two years ago and it was awesome!! I didn't care about the scale I fit into my new clothing and I loved it but it was all exercise I ate less but it was mostly cardio not easy!!!

I like the scale. It usually encourages me with at least a downward trend. I have trouble taking accurate measurements and ...sometimes, even though I've lost weight on the scale, my body measurement stays the same or even increase. Here's a weird example. I've lost 49 lbs. and am still wearing the same sized bras that I did 6 months ago. Once I realized this, I went out and bought some new ones, (even had a proper fitting), but I ended up buying the same size as the old ones. I'm flabbergasted! Now, my waist looks a lot smaller, and my top a lot bigger. I know I'm losing inches as my clothes are a lot smaller, but I really don't like the tape measure.

My weight changes faster than my waist - there's a lot more opportunity for small victories. I do weigh daily, but of course I pay more attention to trends. Short-term stalls are annoying but part of the price you pay I guess for more data.

It's odd because in the past I've found myself disappointed when I had a "plateau" (by which I'm sure I meant a few days with no scale changes). This time, even though I'm very invested in success, I don't feel the strong emotional disappointment or discouragement when I don't see immediate progress.

For me if the weight goes up, my clothes don't fit well and I am sure that my measurements are also up, so I don't take them. When my weight goes back to normal, so is the fitting of my clothes, but when I take measurements I don't see a downward trend. Obviously, I don't know how to take my measurements accurately, so I stay away from the tape.
