What's happening?

Despite exercising 4 days last week, jogged yesterday and being on 1400kcal a day (+ calories burnt if exercising) I am actually putting on weight.
I don't understand why ...

Can't just be that I started working night shifts (4on 4off)?

    If you are doing this correctly, working out as you say you are, eating at a deficit and weighing your foods - you really haven't gained weight. This is most likely that annoying (yet totally normal) water weight which is very, very common especially after exercise. Stay calm and give it a little bit longer, you'll see that scale move downwards soon enough.

    There are tons of posts like this every week, search them and the most common issue is inaccurate logging. If your not using a food scale get one, make sure you are using verified calorie counts from MFP's choices, and don't eat back more then 25% of your exercise calories.
