Anyone here on MFP into the ASMR community? If yes, who are your favorites? What are your triggers? How did you get into it?

Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a neologism for a perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, or cognitive stimuli. Pretty much means that they talk really quietly and use objects/sensations like tapping/clicking/ turning book pages and a lot of people feel a sense of relaxation

Lol if you haven't heard of ASMR before, it can seem kinda wacky and strange. Imo there's the normal side of ASMR and then the weird side where everything is fetishized, like ~asmr 20 minutes moaning sounds ear to ear with kissing noises~ and stuff like that.

I also love gentlewhispering! massageasmr is probably my top favorite because most of my triggers are visual, so I like his massage videos. I like softannapl, whispersredasmr, and olivia's kissper asmr, too.

And yeah that's exactly how I found out about it too, years ago watching head massages and stumbling across some of the earlier asmr channels haha. My sister and I used to have a channel but there were too many people trying to get their rocks off and make it weird so we stopped doing that after a while. Like, I really appreciate the people who put so much effort into their channels and videos, helping relax people and helping them sleep, but christ a lot of them get so much perverted crap clogging their comments it's kinda ridiculous.

Oh and also in addition to the definition ^^^ for the folks who don't know what it is: it's like when someone is playing with your hair, or really gently scratching your back. Like when you were a kid and someone drew letters or pictures on your back with their finger, that's kinda what it feels like.

MassageASMR is an Aussie like me haha :) I find his videos really good and he's the only ASMR man that I've enjoyed listening to!
Totally agree on the weird people that get super creepy in the YouTube comments! You totally should re-start your channel because it has taken off so much in the past year

I discovered ASMR after trying to figure out why my back was/is super ticklish. Apparently such a sensation is perfectly normal but really strong in some cases, especially if you experience daily back stiffness and pain like I do. Therefore, I enjoy most of that type of video trigger.
