What does the rest of the week have for us?

http://www.theguardian.com/society/2015/oct/27/sugar-health-threat-underestimated-obesity-study-claims?CMP=fb_us

Funny part was I knew who did the "study" before the article told me.

9 day study (I mean surely nothing else could cause fluctuations over such a long term, right), self-reported dietary recall, food was "sent home" with the participants, many of the 'difference' within the margin of error. And yes...LOLustig.

Yep, this proves it once and for all!!

(not directed at OP, but more for the benefit of those who might think this study has any actual credence)

^This. It's a badly designed study, hardly not worth the media crap storm it's going to cause.

Better headline: "children with high blood sugar show positive short-term response to a reduction in the intake of simple sugars." But that would just be too "duh."

    Seriously...I hate the media

MSN dot com's article about this was titled "Sugar is Definitely Toxic, a New Study Says"

nothing that you can eat half pound quantities of daily and have ANY way of still being healthy is "toxic".

This is a prospective study with NO CONTROLS. So it's basically a joke. At least it was a prospective study though. That makes it a lot better than the WHO's epidemiology and observational studies.

I will admit that I enjoyed the fact that the Guardian at least thought to ask other experts in the field about their thoughts, and that was at least a sizable portion of the article. Also, it wasn't purported as absolute fact, like some of the others.

    Science reporting is so bad.

This would have worked even better yesterday when I was wearing my Captain America t-shirt and Darth Vader jacket, both of which I picked up last weekend.
Whole thing made me sad - got down to a medium, nerd shirts don't want to come medium, have 2 larges in stock at Meijer is seen as accommodating. So many shirts not bought. Also, irony of having a t-shirt that has "I find your lack of strength disturbing" tear out from tight arms. Yeah Disney has somehow come to own me.

kiddo and wife got me a "Best dad in the galaxy" Darth Vader shirt for father's day.

First time wearing it out and I got "what? I know that's a joke, but he was a terrible father".

I'm just nerdy enough about star wars to wish I'd bought the DVD set before they ****ed with them with CGI.

Rumor has it that Disney will be releasing the untouched versions.
