Hi There!
Frankly, I probably wouldn't be posting at all, except I'm a little tipsy. I am feeling really good tonight. I went out for drinks with a friend, and, not only did I stick to my allotted calories (estimated - I didn't measure the drinks myself), but I managed to not order a big pile of cheesy, greasy, delicious food to go along with it. This is a huge win for me. Going out for drinks is generally the end of any calorie counting/good decisions I will do/make on that day.
I have actually been on Myfitnesspal for a few years, but stopped tracking about two years ago, which coincided with my stopping running for a month after completing the one 10k I did per year. Since then, my diet has spiraled out of control, and I've gained back much of the weight I had lost.
I kept running. I did not go back to watching my diet. I completed my first, possibly only, half marathon about a month ago, had a ridiculously indulgent weekend, and am now working my way back to being a reasonable eater.
I bought a food scale. I set my goals to lose 1.5lbs per week, and then starting logging my food. ALL my food, for about a week or so. Since then, I've been trying to work my way down to the calorie goal set by MFP. Some days are successful, others not so much. A couple of super hungry days have convinced me to change my goal to 1lb a week. So far, so good.
I know I can lose weight because I've done it before. I know now that I can set and achieve goals. I'm not a planner by habit. I have very few long term goals. Training for a half marathon showed me I could set a goal, work toward it, and actually accomplish what I set out to do.
I plan to meet my overall goal of under 160lbs, incrementally. My first goal is to hit 200 (I'm at 223 right now), take a couple weeks break from a calorie deficit, and then push on with the next 20-30lb loss, take a break, repeat until I eventually reach my goal.
Sorry, this got long, and I didn't even get around to being annoying about my running.
