Hi, my name is Lee.

Well, where to begin? I am a full-time law student and part time legal intern. I have very little control over my time or schedule do to school and my profession. I have been "heavy, obese, fat" for most of my life. As a child my parents could not get me to eat and I swam competitively. But by the time I entered middle school I started my first job in fast food and the addiction began. Fast forward eight years, some big moves, and a lot of life stress and I'm well over 300lbs. Last week I had surgery to repair a severely herniated disc in my lower back which caused me such severe pain I could not walk. In my first post operative visit my surgeon made it clear that the weight needs to go and he suggested this site. I am new to fitness in general. I don't know how to work out, I don't know the diets or the science behind them, and I don't know how to go about losing this weight. What I do know is that I abuse food. It is my go to for comfort and security and its hard for me to imagine a life where I can't just eat whatever I want. I am realistic about this: I know the weight isn't going to fall off and next time this year I will look like a men's health cover. I know there will be times when I will slip and "fall off the wagon" so to speak. I am hoping this community will be a source of support in my new quest. I plan to get real serious about exercise once my surgeon clears me. Currently I cannot bend, twist, or lift more than 10 lbs. I'm currently testing out a Fitbit One but I am not completely sold on it (considering checking out the Shine 2). I'm very into technology so I think that this app combined with the fitness tracker will help keep me motivated to achieve my goals. If anyone out there has some advice or a good place to start or even just a similar experience I welcome your input. Thanks.
