Gained 26 Lbs in Two Years Absence

I got down to 149 two Christmases ago...and then stopped logging on. I've started going to the gym once a week for about a month now. Two weeks ago I finally got on the scale and saw I was 175. The thing is, I was actually really happy on where my life was and this just knocked me back about five thousand knots. I hadn't felt like I did too many changes, but I must have. I just feel so depressed now when I think about having to count calories again. I hadn't felt so bad about myself and self image until I hopped back on that scale .

I gained 22# in 5 months after I stopped logging. Don't beat yourself up over this, just figure out what you're going to do about it. For me, I'd rather calorie count than be overweight. It's a small chore to do. I suspect you really don't want to cut back on the calories though. If that's the case it's time to study your relationship with food. You don't want to be up another 20# in 2 years. The first thing I read about when I came back was about maintenance, since I had confidence I could lose the weight I'd gained back.0

Well, to be honest, I hadn't really noticed the weight until the scale. I wasn't eating too much at fast food, but I guess I did have some rich foods in casseroles and the like. It's just annoying to think that the rest of my life may have to be spent logging calories if such weight gain goes unnoticed. I guess my aging process isn't going to be so graceful or forgiving as others. I just like my life to be easy going and relaxed, but right now it seems anything but that when I have to worry about every little thing I eat or drink.0

Honestly I don't think it should be forever. Only until it becomes the habit and the norm. I mean think about it. You've had years and years of practice eating too much. You simply need to train yourself to eat proper portions and healthier foods. Once you know what your plate should look like, I don't see a reason to keep uber tabs on your calories. But I would watch the scale. Even weight yourself once every two weeks once you've hit maintenance, just so you can adjust things when necessary, before they add up to 25 lbs. Good luck0
