I've heard a bit about DHEA supplements, wondering if anyone had any opinions on this?

Thanks.

  • I take it but only because a recent blood test showed my DHEA to be low.

You really should talk to your doctor about it to see if you should be taking it. Note too though that if you are on the pill it will be low and you should NOT supplement with it as it will decrease the potency of your BC.

Hormone-sensitive conditions such as breast cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, endometriosis, or uterine fibroids: DHEA is a hormone that can affect how estrogen works in the body. If you have any condition that might be made worse by exposure to estrogen, don’t use DHEA.

There are side effects to everything you take. I have been taking DHEA for a long time now and I don't have a deep voice or facial hair.

I suggested that the OP talk to her doctor and see if she needs to supplement as it is not something one should take "just because". As I said my blood test -- which I discussed with my doctor -- showed that my DHEA levels are low which is why I upped my dosage.
