Liking status

in Getting Started
I'm confused as to why I can like some friends statuses but on some I can't. Anyone know why this is? It turns blue when I press like but then goes back as if I didn't :(

    I see that issue for newly added friends - the like and comment buttons usually start to work in about 24 hours.
