Is this anxiety or energy?

Ok, so its about 8pm... I've been up 'n at 'em since about 6am. Usually by this time I'm pooped.
Today was supposed to be my "rest" day, but here I am... surfing the web and my heart is kind of racing. Almost like I've had a strong cup of coffee or tea. The only thing is, I haven't had any caffeine all day. I've had some baked chicken, rice w/cilantro, and avocado for dinner... big salad for lunch.. eggs and greek yogurt for breakfast... then 2 medium apples, with some PB, as well as mixed nuts for snacks.
While I do have a lot on my mind and have been dealing with somewhat severe anxiety lately, I haven't had my heart semi-racing like this in a very long time. Its a weird feeling of needing to take deep breaths and relax, but its also a feeling of "get up and go do work!".
Can anyone relate? Ever come home from a long day and surprisingly have a ton of extra energy?
Guess I shouldn't be complaining to have extra energy, but just curious because this feeling of energy is a little different than I'm used to. Anyway, I'm about to find out. I'm either going to breeze through this 3 mile jog or be gasping for air and keeling over with a cramp after 1/4 mile.

On the rare occasion that I've experienced anxiety attacks, they felt EXACTLY how you are saying you felt. For me, just closing my eyes and forcing myself to breathe slow and deep helped me a lot!0

I am past the anxiety phase of my life (age 52). Let us know how this turns out. I think you are wise to exercise that extra energy.0

Doesn't sound like my anxiety attacks...I usually get pretty catatonic. But if you didn't exercise today, you're prolly just dealing with the excess energy you'd normally burn off in the gym.
Good luck though Maybe read or something else relaxing. Excess energy or anxiety, doing something relaxing, even a hot shower, will help.0 -
While I guess these could be "mild" panic attacks.. I'm happy to report that I did 4 miles at about a ~12 minute pace. So I am glad I turned to exercise when feeling this way vs. food.
Interestingly enough though... now that I'm back in front of the computer, I'm starting to feel the onset of slight anxiousness again. Maybe I need a break from all electronics/ social media? I work in a demanding/ fast paced job where all day long we are communicating via email and in front of computers... so I'm wondering if being in front of a computer so long just doesn't help with the anxiety.0 -
I had anxiety attacks about 20 years ago during a stressful time in my life. It's hard to tell from your description if it's anxiety or extra energy. The clue for me would be worry. When I had panic attacks, I felt unhappy and worried. Today, years later, when I exercise a lot and eat better, I feel happier and can definitely say the energy isn't anxiety, maybe just excitement. Maybe take a hot shower or hot soak? If you do yoga or meditation that could calm you down. I agree also, if you turn off the electronics you might be able to relax. Best wishes for a peaceful evening.0
