Being Fit Around Others. Upset Thread!

I'm married, been married 14 years and moved away from my family to my husband's family. I grew up in a city skateboarding everywhere and walking to school, playing baseball, cheerleader. Was very active.
Later in my teens it switched to walking 12 miles daily to my friends house, walking around and playing outside. Doing whatever out in the country and doing farm work.
Think thirteen year old teen tossing hay bales above her head.
I move in with his family and my blood is not good. Something's wrong with me. My heart rate is too low.
Mind you this is a family with high blood pressure.
After years of putting up with them of telling me something is wrong with me, and my husband being concerned of my low heart rate I finally saw my doctor Wednesday. And came out with a clean bill of health.
I'm fit and healthy, and do so much exercise and just being active my blood pressure and heart rate is low and lowering naturally. I've got my heart rate in the 50s before and that middle number in the 60s with the top number in the 90s to 80s.
I've logged my blood pressure on our machine at home. Showed my doctor and she verified I'm ok. I'm perfectly healthy. Those low numbers are a good sign.
HIS family can't figure that out and still believe the doctor is wrong and that I should have seen another. Because my heart rate isn't supposed to be that low.
And I flat out told them, I don't have high blood pressure. I've never have. My heart rate has always been low. I told them they are not used to seeing those numbers because they have high blood pressure.
Didn't tell them the reason why mine are all low and there's not is because I'm fit and they're not.
Then I had mentioned while I'm there I'll have my doctor tell me what my weight is supposed to be. Know I'm not far off.
And I was actually asked, "Why?"
OMG!
I just get so mad sometimes. Excuse me for not wanting g to be obese. For not wanting to be overweight. For watching how much and what I eat. For flat out wanting to be healthy.
There are times when it's just so hard to be fit around others. Almost as I'd they're jealous of you so they're going to be selfish and bring you down.
I came out with the certified approval from my doctor that I'm healthy and to keep doing what I'm doing. Even 13 pounds off from my goal and she wasn't the least concerned about me loosing that since I have come so far myself.
And thanks to MFP and it's members for that.
It's because of help from this site that I came out with a green light.
Still came out with arthritis in my knees and the cartilage chipping off my knee joints. But I'll just go easy for now till I feel pain. Will be doing my reasearch in the meantime. But I have a full time job, short term disability and insurance. Not really worried bout the money part. Worried period ? Yeah. But it'll be another obstacle in my life to get over.
Again, not to worried cause I'll be fit, at my healthy weight and will have MFP to keep me from weight gain whenever the time came.
Sorry for the long rant. Thanks for reading.

Be gentle with them. Give them the benefit of the doubt about being overly involved in your health (and for being irritating idiots).
Maybe find your own clan -- people who are on a fitness path similar to yours.0 -
Good for you for sticking to your guns. My own family is somewhat like that. You just keep smiling, you know your health is more important than their ignorance. Give them all Fitbits for Christmas, maybe it'll spur them on!0

So sorry for your rough experience with the family-in-law. I, for one, admire your dedication to fitness, even more so 'cause its in the face of your negative environment. I get frustrated with my family's unhealthy choices, too. I just try to be a quiet and steady example for them, because they certainly wont listen to me. I hope you can find more like-minded people to be around, but just know your convictions are strong enough to persevere regardless.0
