Chubby Baby Mama LF other mamas trying to lose weight

My baby is now 8 months old.
I remember reading, "it takes 9 months to put on the weight...so it may take 9 months to lose the weight"...
I have a bit of a unique situation:
When my baby was 1 month old, I was able to step on the scale and say, "Wow, breastfeeding really does work. I'm officially back to my pre-pregnancy weight." And this occurred with minimal effort for me. Lovely.
Fast forward 7 months into the future (today) and I'm now nearly 10 pounds HEAVIER than I was only a month after giving birth. What's wrong with me?
I know I have been taking this whole "need the extra calories for breastfeeding" thing too far. I have been eating ALL.THE.TIME.
I also have a MEAN sweet tooth that needs to be tamed!
I am still exclusively breastfeeding my child - no formula. We are transitioning to solids slowly but he is not yet well enough established - he still very much needs my milk for nutrition.
How can I factor in that I am breastfeeding into my calories? Is there something I can do to change my profile? Or can I simply add 300 extra calories each day?
Would love to connect with other mamas who have experienced this weight gain post-pregnancy. I know it's rather odd.
Would also love to connect with other mums trying to lose weight while breastfeeding
