    I'm so sorry for your loss.

    I hope that your friend's attitude is simply her defense mechanism for dealing with a situation that had no easy answer. I had a baby at 17 and while my life turned out pretty good, it wasn't easy and it isn't something anyone would choose if they knew what it meant. So your friend had to decide between her daughter's life being very difficult during what should be carefree, fun years, giving her grandchild away to strangers or aborting the baby. All of those choices are terrible. But the choice was taken out of her hands and she's probably feeling a burden lifted.

    I know it's tough under the circumstances, but try to understand her position.

    Sorry to those of you who opened this and found a vague statement. It was originally a lengthy vent but it touched on topics that could have caused issue in a forum such as this so, after posting it, I deleted the bulk of it so as to not cause any problems.

    Gist is I lost a child 17 years ago. A friend just lost a grandchild and she seems to be relieved, as opposed to sad. The circumstances break my heart and bring back memories....and I was just venting about it. But like I said, there could have been issues caused by what I posted so I got rid of most of it.
