So, my hair is very thick and it had grown down to the small of my back. Yesterday I had it cut so its just sitting on my shoulders. I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 3lbs!!

Wow. I often attribute shaving my legs to weight lost.0

I have wondered how much mine weighs. It's thick and falls to my hips. I can almost sit on it.0

@Machka9 I wonder how you could weigh it? Maybe if someone holds hair while you weigh. How heavy when wet too!
Mine's mid back but fine. I doubt I've got 3lbs like OP.
I have entertained ideas of using my food scale.
I don't know if it would be 3 lbs, but it does have some weight to it.

This is why I love, love keeping mine short. The first time I chopped it all off I was 17 and I could not believe the feeling of weight coming off my shoulders, headaches gone... I tried wearing it long again in my early thirties but it was only manageable with severe monthly thinning at the hairdressers. All the beauty only pleases other people, all that's left for you is hours stolen off your life washing, drying, money spent on broken combs and the weight on your neck... Enjoy your new-found freedom OP0 -
I've always wondered how heavy my hair is. It's very thick and down to my waist. I keep tucking it into my pants lol.0

I do that too!0 -
Is that so you girls don't sit on it?0

That's amazing! I've always been curious how much certain things on my body weigh. I know my boobs have no influence since they're non-existent, but my hair is pretty long too.0

Doesn't surprise me at all. I've had to keep my hair short since I was a teenager. It was SO heavy it gave me headaches and neck aches.0

It's OK ... until you have really long hair, you don't really think about those things.
I let mine get really long, and then all of a sudden one day, I've had enough of it, and I have it cut back to waist-length. Last time I did that was January, but it seems to have grown really fast this time.
I love it long ... waist length or longer ... so much easier to deal with than short. I've got just enough curl to be really annoying when it is shorter. I used to spend hours blow drying and curling etc. trying to get it to do something that looked relatively normal, but there was always a clump of it that wanted to do its own thing. But long, there's enough weight to hold it all down. Now it's a quick wash and comb, and I'm done.
But there are a few challenges, like tucking your hair in when you get dressed in the morning, or dragging it through your coffee, or having it go all static-y on a very dry winter's day and stick to the walls as you walk down the hallway at work ...
