My fitbit charge hr says I burned a total of 2443 calories for the entire day. Not sure if I'm figuring this out right. I ate 1800 calories today. Does this mean I have a deficit of 643? I'm not synching it to any other ap's yet. Trying to figure the fb app out first.

Why not just sync it with MFP and let it handle the math?

I set MFP for a 2 pound loss (I have a lot to lose) and eat back the exercise adjustments from Fitbit. Rather than meeting the calorie goal exactly I have recently focused on keeping my NET calories under 2000. Some days it is under by a bigger margin than others. It does put me in the red at times but I have learned not to let that bug me. This week my weight dropped by 5 pounds. Curious to see if the trend continues.

I have mine synced to here and then mfp and fitbit do the work and figure out what I can eat. It works and I've lost 100+ doing it this way, so I trust the process.
  • Mostly because a lot of days I log my food manually on a notebook. I know its old school but I'm more consistent that way. I guess I need to suck it up and start logging on the app.

I write things down too. But then I sit down a couple of times a day and enter what I have written. Technology is good but I think it works best if used the way it is meant to be used.

The fit bit burn is your tdee and yes your math is correct. Nothing wrong with doing it that way just know it takes at least a month for your fitbit to figure out an accurate tdee.
