Hi everyone,

Just came back from Skiing, and i temporarily dislocated my knee!

That means NO EXERCISE!

What shall i do, my friends? I'm sticking to my 1250 cal limit, (and going over sometimes), and i had great results last week! However, i don't think that i can diet myself into weight loss for a prolonged period while i am injured, and i think i can only start exercising again in 4 weeks time.

I need advice. What shall i do?

I guess i can do strength training in the meantime without cardio - anyone got a nice workout suggestion for 20 min each day?

Dawn

to the exent your knee will allow you can still do some weights in the sitting and reclined position to at least continue building your upper body strength otherwise just watching what you're eating so that you don't slide backwards may be your only other alternative until your knee is better.
  • OUCH! Sorry to hear that dhcwong.

I agree with rheston, do what upper body work you can, but your main focus should be on resting your knee, you don't want to prolong the recovery by doing too much.

    Wish you a speedy recover

Dawn - poor you! Sorry to hear about your injury...

There is a type of workout pioneered by Greer Childers called "Body Flex" - heard of it? I did it YEARS ago, and it works! It's like a form of yoga where breath is highly controlled to create an aerobic state and burn calories. Look it up online and see if you can get the DVD??? Just one idea...

    thanks for the advice!

Ok i'm going to admit something - i looked for free at home strength training guides, and i went to sparkpeople.com, which is a similar site to MFP.

They gave me a whole range of home exercises to do, so it's great!

(they've also got loads of good articles and fancy advertising)

The only thing that Sparkpeople doesn't have is the ability to add fitness calories to food calories, so you don't know how much extra calories to eat after you exercise!

It is that fatal flaw which makes me want to stay with MFP.
