Two months in...

So, I don't really have a question but feel the need to write this down. Feedback is, of course, welcome.

Female, 46 years old, 5'4", SW 153.3, CW 147.6, GW 125.

I'm at 64 days in. I've lost 5.7 pounds, which is slightly above my 0.5 pounds/week goal. The first 30 days only saw a 0.3 pound loss and the rest happened in the second month. This seems to be my pattern (yes, I totally realize it's pathetic that I know my weight loss pattern, which obviously has included gaining it back). I was very discouraged with that first month but knew I was doing everything right and if I just stuck with it, it would work. I barely restrained myself from a "Help, I'm doing everything right and I still can't lose weight" post. The weight loss feels so slow and I get discouraged frequently. I find there are many days that I just feel like I'm slogging through mud but am rather determined to stick it out.

The good thing is I really do love to workout and be active. I've been fit my whole life until these last few years where it's been on-again, off-again. I just finished Insanity Max 30 yesterday and made some nice strength and endurance gains. Considering what to do next. Thinking of C25K maybe and a weights program. I'd really like to give running/jogging a go.

I'm very nervous about this next week, though, starting today. I have dinner with friends tonight so I got in a good workout this morning, am eating filling, low calorie stuff all day beforehand (broccoli, berries) and will aim for maintenance calories. My wonderful SIL sent me the restaurant name/link so I could look at the menu ahead of time. Tomorrow I'm spending the day with my husband so will have to navigate eating out then, too. It's going to involve wine-tasting. Then, I'm traveling Mon-Thurs with four days of in-person, all-day meetings. I'm extremely introverted so this type of thing is very stressful, especially because I'm so uncomfortable in my own skin right now. My plan is to still try to walk 10k steps each day and hopefully get in a hotel workout a couple of days. I'm going to switch to maintenance calories because I'll have to eat what they provide, including two dinners. This is all hard because I really gained all my weight from drinking so I will need to resist drinking a lot during these next six days and that's really tough.

I guess that's it. Now I just need to keep myself together for the next six days...

I will be traveling next week for work as well, 4 days of in-person meetings as well. We are work twins :)
I'm happy to be your buddy during the next week so we can try and keep one another balanced. I'm feeling a little stress myself, since I wont be able to prepare any of my own meals - of course, I plan to be as mindful as possible, run on the hotel treadmill, and make healthy choices - but still!

It IS only 4 days after all - we can do this. One day, one meal, at a time.

Order some hearty mineral water! Or even coffee if you love coffee. I find it's nice to have something different than tap water to sip on when avoiding the wine that I love. Good luck, y'all!

Sounds great! We can just use this thread to check in. Now I'll be especially mindful if I have to report in.

Hi, I'm also two months in and, like you, have lost "only" between 6 and 8 pounds (it fluctuates).
The first month I only ate 1200 calories, now I'm averaging 1500. I lose very slowly, so I understand your frustration. I guess there's not much to do but being patient. :)

drinking is what made me gain weight too :/ and I work in a bar two nights a week. I think most weekends I probably end up about 200 over a day, so I try to say under during the week to make up for it.

Relax, you'll do fine! You already have a plan, so that is a good step in the right direction. Don't stress out if something gets off track (such as not managing as many steps). And having a buddy like yoplait311 will help you feel like you're not all alone out there, surrounded by temptation. You can do it!

Thanks for the replies! I've reset my calories to maintenance and will leave them there until I get back on Friday. My dinner last night went well. A bit too much wine but stayed within maintenance calories from what I can tell. The restaurant didn't have posted nutritional info so had to pull from other restaurant info. On to today...

First day done. Not great but not too horrible. Today should be better. I'll have time to get in a workout after work.

It sounds like you know what you need to do, and you should be proud that you recognize that! Eating at maintenance for a few days won't derail you. In fact, it could be a nice break. Enjoy yourself for the next few days and when its done, back to the routine :)

Just got back from a 10 day vaca. I ate below or at 1000 calories two weeks before leaving.

Gained 5.8 pounds, four days later lost it all but 3 ounces. A lot of sitting in a car..3000 miles. I did over indulge a few days. Back on track and proud of myself for pre planning. Had a blast!

Here is what helped me the most long term, food scale and more accurate logging.

For your weekend trip, I would enjoy it and try to make more sensible choices if possible or log if you can.

Exercise - I would recommend looking into something with more resistance/weight training involved. You will see greater changes in your body.

Yesterday went well. Ate within maintenance.Still had a couple glasses of wine but it fit. Got in a cardio workout and a ton of walking since I'm on SF.

Thx. I need to remember that life happens and the world isn't going to stop for me to lose weight, dang it. Lol.

Thx. Yep, looking into what to do next. I like doing video programs so I'm thinking Chalean Extreme since I've done that before and like it.
